Summer Schools on Representations of Groups and Algebras (1998-2001)
Supported by EU (TMR: Training and Mobility of Researchers)
Aims and Scope
The objective was to provide an efficient training for young researchers who
are interested in new trends in representation theory. Each School had
two parts; it started with a 'Compact Seminar', in which the young
participants took the active role; this was followed by a 'Workshop',
with lectures by leading experts of the field.
1998:
- Summer School: 'Springer Correspondence'.
Picquigny, France. September 21 - 28, 1998.
Theme: Character sheaves were developed to understand the irreducible
characters of finite groups of Lie type. The
participants
will read through
Shoji's article in Astérisque 168. In the last part, there will be
series of lectures by T.A.Springer and by T.Shoji.
1999:
- Summer School and Workshop: 'Hall Algebras
and Quantum Groups'. Hesselberg, Germany, August 22 - 29.
Theme: Hall algebras provide an algebraic approach to the combinatorics
of a root system, and they can be used to prove the existence of Lusztig and
Kashiwara's canonical bases for quantum groups.
2000:
- Summer School:
'Geometry of Quiver-representations and
Preprojective Algebras'.
Isle of Thorn, UK. September 10 - 17, 2000.
Theme: The use of algebraic geometry in representation theory. Topics:
Degenerations of modules, theorem of Kac, moduli of representations,
geometry of representations of preprojective algebras and quiver
varieties.
2001:
