Euroconference 1998: Infinite Length Modules
Bielefeld/Germany, September 7 - 11, 1998.

Social Program

Reception: Monday (September 7) at 19:00

There will be an informal reception, held at the Mensa of the University. All participants are invited, there is no charge.

Excursion: Wednesday (September 9) at 13:30

We will go by bus to Paderborn. There will be two guided tours, one at the Nixdorf Museum (devoted to the development of tools for calculations), the other one in the center of the city (there is a famous cathedral, built between 1075 and 1260, and the relicts of an old Kaiserpfalz dating back to the time of Karl der Grosse (Charlemagne)). The buses leave the University (in front of the Main Entrance) at 13:30, they will return around 19:30 to the Train Station (Hauptbahnhof). There is no charge for participants.

Conference Dinner: Thursday (September 10) at 19:00

It will be held at the Mensa of the University. (Participants have to pay only for drinks; wine, beer and soft drinks are sold at moderate prizes; the first drink is free).

Before the Conference: Excursion on Sunday (September 6) at 10:30

For those mathematicians who participate also at ICRTA 8.5, we arrange (free of charge) a sightseeing tour on Sunday, September 6. We will go by bus to Vlotho, a lovely scenic town at the Weser; we will stay there for two hours (and there is the possibility to have lunch). From 14:00 to 16:00, we will take a boat tour on the Weser from Minden to the Porta Westfalica (with its monument for Kaiser Wilhelm I built in 1896); also we will see the Minden waterway cross-roads (since 1914, the Mittelland canal has been led across the Weser with the aid of a 341 metre long trough-like bridge). Finally, we are going to visit Bückeburg castle (the oldest parts are approximately 700 years old, it still serves as the seat of the Schaumburg-Lippe dynasty). We will return around 20:00. Start and return is in front of the Train Station (Hauptbahnhof).
