Summer School and Workshop ''Hall Algebras and Quantum Groups''

From August 22 to August 29, 1999 there will be a

Summer School and Workshop on ''Hall Algebras and Quantum Groups''

in Hesselberg, in the south of Germany.

In the first part we will read through several articles. Some experts, including J.A.Green, M.M.Kapranov, M.Reineke, C.M.Ringel, J.Xiao and A.V.Zelevinsky, will give lectures in the second part.

Please download the ps-files of the invitation (dvi / ps) , of the program (dvi / ps) and of the schedule (dvi / ps) [updated 17-8-99] for more details. In case you need more information, please contact Steffen König - preferably by email: koenig@mathematik.uni-bielefeld.de. Registration has been finished. Here is the list of participants (dvi , ps) (updated 17-8-99).

Here is the picture showing participants (small version: 111 k, and big version: 7.127 k), and here is another picture (small version: 248 k, and big version: 15.607 k).

We have obtained support from various sources; amongst them is the European Union. In case you fulfill certain conditions we will be able to cover your expenses entirely. If you wish to apply for support, you should fill in this form. (More detailed information has been sent to registered participants by email.)

Participants can buy books on related topics at reduced prices. Here is more information.

As an introduction to Hall algebras we recommend C.M.Ringel's ELAM lectures (dvi / ps). Here you find several worked out examples. (Some graphics are missing in the files available here.)

We will have to charge a registration fee of DM 100.

Here is a picture of Hesselberg: gif and the same as jpg and here is a map of the area as gif and as jpg. A neighbouring town is Gunzenhausen. Gunzenhausen has a train station with good connections to several cities in South Germany (e.g. München - Gunzenhausen is less than two hours). (Please note that Hesselberg does not have a train station. If you ask the railway server for 'Hesselberg' you will get a wrong answer, referring to a different place of the same name. The transport between Gunzenhausen and Hesselberg will be organized by us.) The region is called Mittelfranken, and here is a panoramic map. Here is the homepage of the region. If you plan to go by car from München to Hesselberg you may use this schematic map at the beginning, and another schematic map at the very end.
